Careers at Mesfonic

A boutique, remote-first virtual CFO firm serving project-based businesses. We're deliberate about who we hire — because our clients hire us for judgment, and judgment is a people business.

What it's like here

Mesfonic is small by design. No layers, no timesheet bureaucracy, no hundred-person delivery machine. The work is direct: you sit with principals and owners of project-based firms, look at their real numbers, and help them make better decisions. Forecasting, cash visibility, project margin analysis, pricing judgment — the full FP&A discipline, applied where it visibly matters.

The firm is remote-first. We care about output and client outcomes, not hours logged or seats filled. If you've spent your career inside big-finance machinery and want the work to be closer to the decisions, this is the shape of firm where that happens.

Growth here means depth, not headcount: advisors take on more complex client situations, sharper judgment calls, and a bigger share of the firm's thinking — not a bigger team to manage. It's a good place for someone who wants the craft to keep getting better.

What we look for

When we do hire, we look for a specific profile:

  • Real FP&A or finance leadership experience — forecasting, planning, and reporting at a level where you've owned the numbers, not just built the decks.
  • A finance credential — CPA or equivalent professional background. The work demands technical credibility with clients who know finance.
  • Project-industry fluency — consulting, engineering, EPC, architecture, or professional services. You should already understand utilization, backlog, milestone billing, and why project economics differ from product economics.
  • Client-facing judgment — the ability to tell an owner something they don't want to hear, clearly and kindly. Advisory is a communication discipline as much as a technical one.
  • Independence — remote-first means self-directed. You manage your own rhythm and your own client relationships.

Open roles

There are no open roles posted right now. Mesfonic hires deliberately and infrequently — we'd rather stay small than hire fast. If the profile above describes you and you want to be considered when something opens, check back here periodically.

We don't keep a standing applicant pool or accept speculative applications through this site. When a role opens, it will be posted on this page with a full description and how to apply.

How the work is structured

Advisors at Mesfonic carry a small number of client relationships — not a book of fifty accounts. The model only works if the advisor knows each firm's numbers deeply: the backlog, the margin patterns, the cash rhythm, the personalities in the leadership team. That depth is the product, and it's why the firm stays boutique.

The work itself is the full FP&A discipline: rolling forecasts, 13-week cash models, monthly reporting and KPI reviews, project margin analysis, pricing support on major proposals, and the standing conversations with owners where the numbers become decisions. You'll present to principals, challenge assumptions, and see your analysis turn into action the same week — a shorter feedback loop than most finance careers offer.

Remote-first means the firm hires for self-direction. There's no office to default to and no manager watching the clock; there are clients who expect you sharp, prepared, and on time. If that tradeoff sounds like freedom rather than risk, you'll fit.

Run your projects with financial confidence.
